ON Feb 9, 1984, Gen Ziaul Haq dealt an existential blow to Pakistan when he banned student unions. They were never truly restored though several civilian governments followed him and each promised to remove the ban.

ON April 16, 2022, a teenager in Karachi stepped out of her home early in the morning to throw garbage in the public bin nearby. She never returned home that day. According to reports based on court and police proceedings, she was abducted by a young man and his companions from Lahore. A horrible experience awaited her.

افسوس اس بات کا ہے کہ دنیا کی بڑی طاقتیں اپنے اس کھیل میں دنیا کی چھوٹی ریاستوں کو اپنا شکار بنا لیتی ہیں، جس میں ان کی ترقی اور عوامی انصاف مار کھاتے ہیں۔ اب یہی کہا جا سکتا ہے کہ تاریخ کا خاتمہ بلکل نہیں ہوا بلکہ ایک نئے قسم کا تاریخی دور شروع ہوا ہے، جو پہلے سے زیادہ خطرناک ہے اور تیسری دنیا کے ممالک کے لیے زیادہ تکلیف دہ ثابت ہو گا۔
